When fstoppers was first launched in 2010, our goal was to share the secrets of successful photographers behind the scenes. The first short film we made was one of the relatively unknown but talented head photographer Peter Hurley. Aware of the talent behind Peter's coaching approach, fstoppers decided to shoot a longer full-length tutorial on Peter Hurley's head bashing technique. The resulting educational series "the art behind the head portrait" has been highly praised by the photography industry and helped Peter Hurley become one of the world's top photography instructors. "Art after a blow" was released in 2011, and since then Peter has not only grown into a more skilled head photographer, but also a better mentor.
